Job Description
1. Scope
This role applies to the R&D Executive position in Unilever Vietnam’s Ice Cream division, specifically supporting the Magnum brand.
2. Objective
To manage and deliver R&D activities for the Ice Cream category in Vietnam, ensuring product quality, compliance, and innovation in alignment with regional/global strategies.
3. Key Responsibilities
Local R&D Partnership
- Act as the key R&D representative partnering with local businesses and cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with Regional and Global Development Centers (RDCs/GDCs) to provide insights on local consumers, customers, and regulatory needs.
- Capture learnings from project implementations and share best practices.
Product Expertise
- Understand local market dynamics and provide feedback to regional/global R&D.
- Support product quality management and handle consumer complaints.
- Monitor competitors’ products and technology trends.
Technical Compliance & Claims
- Ensure compliance with Unilever’s internal guidelines and local regulations.
- Act as the first point of contact for on-pack information and labeling accuracy.
- Provide local substantiation and adaptation of product claims.
Innovation & Activation
- Support the implementation of global and regional innovation projects.
- Manage R&D input for artworks, claims approval, and promotional clearances.
- Represent R&D in internal innovation committees.
- 5. Packaging Development
- Support local packaging development and adaptation for innovation and promotions.
- Maintain Bills of Materials (BOM), specifications, and technical documents.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate product labeling.
Laboratory & Support Tasks
- Prepare product samples and coordinate with agencies for lab testing.
- Manage COAs and lab reports.
- Monitor and purchase competitors’ new launches for benchmarking.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Food Engineering or related disciplines.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in R&D, preferably in FMCG or the food industry.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Solid technical knowledge in product and packaging development.
- Entrepreneurial, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset.
