Job Description

1. Product Research & Development

Lead the development and optimization of nutritional food and beverage products (e.g., fortified drinks, protein-based beverages, meal replacements, cereals, and health supplements).

Conduct formulation trials and process experiments to achieve target nutritional profiles, sensory performance, and cost efficiency.

Evaluate new ingredients (e.g., vitamins, minerals, proteins, fibers) and technologies that can enhance product functionality and consumer benefits.

2. Ingredient & Process Evaluation

Identify and assess potential suppliers of nutritional raw materials domestically and internationally.

Establish appropriate extraction, blending, and processing methods for key ingredients to ensure stability and bioavailability.

Develop and maintain technical specifications and quality standards for raw materials and finished products.

3. Quality & Compliance Management

Collaborate with QA, Regulatory, and Manufacturing teams to ensure products meet food safety, labeling, and nutritional compliance requirements.

Establish and monitor control methods for raw material quality and in-process product testing.

Support industrial scale-up and validation to ensure lab-to-plant transition success.

4. Technical Documentation & Knowledge Building

Prepare and maintain R&D documentation including formulation data, process parameters, testing results, and sensory evaluation reports.

Develop scientific reports and internal technical knowledge related to nutrition science, ingredient functionality, and product stability.

Contribute to building the internal ingredient and formulation database for the Nutrition category.

5. Team Collaboration & Mentorship

Support the Product Development Manager in leading and coaching junior researchers or technicians.

Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Supply Chain, Procurement) to ensure technical feasibility and cost optimization of product concepts.

Participate in consumer research, pilot trials, and product improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Food Technology, Nutrition Science, Food Chemistry, or related disciplines.

Experience:

  • Minimum 4–6 years of experience in product development or R&D, preferably in nutrition, dairy, functional foods, or health beverages.
  • Experience in developing nutritional formulations or fortified foods is highly preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of food and nutrition science, ingredient functionality, and processing technologies.
  • Hands-on experience in formulation trials, sensory testing, and product stability studies.
  • Knowledge of food safety and regulatory standards (e.g., additives, nutrition labeling, functional claims).
  • Proficiency in English for technical documentation and communication (IELTS ≥ 5.5 or equivalent).
  • Good command of MS Office and formulation-related software tools.
